for that other hotel about us. about a year ago i met the actor and director tyler perry. tyler a couple years ago bought delta airlines headquarters in atlanta and needed to some its tv shows and movies. one of the amazing things about tyler and his story is a 1998 tyler was homeless and tyler perry searcy changed his story. i have kind of an unusual story myself. i was born in a small river town on the hudson, newburgh new york. when i was growing up, look magazine called it the all-american city and at that time we had kind of an inner-city, but then we had a lot of harm kids and there was an air force base of the schools will follow the inner-city and harm can and kids who'd been around the world. it was an interesting place to grow up. earlier on my father grew up in the newburgh poorhouse. it was called the poggi. my father's mother was a charwoman at the poorhouse come which meant she cleaned the bathrooms or the other poor people and they got a room there. so that was our background and that's why feel i should be the next president of the united states. from famous people like tyler perry who was homeless, living in a car, to people i know throughout my community who have got, broken drug addictions, who have dealt with brutal, brutal hatred because they came out of the closet at a young age. all these stories. and it's amazing to me that everybody, including tyler perry, has these stories about how one perp's small act of -- one person's small act of kindness was a difference maker for them. and it gives me chills to think that the biggest thing we actually do on any given day probably could be a small act of kindness to someone else. and so the vulnerability and fragility of life you really get to see up close and personal in cities like ours here in new york and ours in newark, new jersey, and how it doesn't take that much effort to be there for a kid. and i see, and i was very happy during sandy, we were able to do some things through covenant house and in cooperation with some extraordinary people that linked in to raise a lot of money because it actually doesn't take that much money to give a person a doorway of hope. and the l

with the brutal hatred because they came out at a young age. it is amazing including tyler perry how one small act of kindness made a difference and it gives me chills that we all have the power that could be an act of kindness to someone else. you can see them up close and personal like it new york or new jersey and doesn't take that much effort to be there with our kids. things that we could do through covenant house to raise money does not take that much money to give someone a jury of zero. when i first became mayor i had a metaphor but i would cling to that i am of prisoner of folk there were so many challenges i would say every our prisoners of hope. now metaphor is completely changed because ic transformative thing is happening from the largest park expansion the creativity of my team the first time in 60 years hotels who are employing people in the city. i tell people now i am hope unhinge because now i believe in my heart of hearts there is no problem poverty, child list is. it is not can we but do we have the collective will? with kids we have tens of thousands of children on a waiting l
